Redfish:
The redfish have been scattered throughout the outer islands. The key this time of year is to find a hungry school that is willing to feed. The reds have been mixed in with schools of mullet but not every school has been eager to feed so if they are not feeding keep working until you find a school that is ready for a easy meal when presented to them. These fish have been getting a good amount of pressure and combined with crystal clear water can spook easily so move slow and consider down sizing your tackle.
Trout:
The trout are scattered throughout the flats. Drifting to cover water is a great option until you find fish. Jigs and popping corks with artificial are a great option. Once you find fish mark your spot and try to replicate your drift through the same area. Once you have located fish a popping cork with a live shrimp is hard to beat if you can keep the pinfish off it long enough for the trout to get to it.
Nearshore rocks :
The nearshore rocks are holding good numbers of grunts and mangrove snapper with the occasional keeper seabass and sheepshead mixed in. These rocks also have makeral hanging around so if you are getting cut off they may be the culprit. To target these toothy guys up your leader size or go to a small piece of lite wire, a chumbag up current of the structure you are fishing can help draw them in and makes for easy fun fishing.
Scalloping :
